... sometimes there are good reasons to monetize Your efforts to share climbing dreams :-)

For example, when You spend money to buy bolts, time and energies to bolt new routes, maintaining the old ones, cleaning boulders, ..., You can decide to write and sell Your own topo guide.

Then, if You want a "paper" guidebook, You can ask the help of a traditional editor:
in this case You'll gain about 10 % of total incomes, the remaining 90 % goes to the editor as profit and costs (to print, stock, promote, ship) covering.


Now, with internet, You can do much better:

- for Your customers (they pay less and get the informations in advance, in order to plan better their climbing trips without the risk of not getting the guide)

- for Yourself (You gain more money and Your topo guide can inspire readers helping them to choose Your local climbing area as travelling destination.)


You can realize and sell:

1) a "digital" guide, for example a simple pdf like this.
In this case:

- You can write where to buy Your topo guide and put that special links useful for Your customers to pay and download Your digital topo guides in Your "9blog" and in "topo guides" groups discussions (authors/editors are welcome to post updated local access informations as comments in AREA discussions)

- Your customers can print by themselves Your ebook, after having payed and downloaded it.

2) a normal paper book, using Lulu, they receive the order from a customer, print the single book and ship it to that customer, all over the world.

To enter and read this topo guide group, authors/editors decide if readers have to pay a subscription fee and/or make free (they decide the price to pay You) donations.

- be INTERACTIVE:
all readers, together with author, can edit and update it "real time", first of all local access informations in AREA discussion.

1.
Your guide will be a group.
Set up a PAYMENT SERVICE for Your group.
This is done independently from 9b on a service like PayPal or Google Checkout.

2.
Ask 9b admin to add Your own PRIVATE group.
9b admin will create it writing in group's description that there is a subscription fee for Your group (100 % of all the fees are for You).
So, adding Your group, 9b admin will select "moderated membership", in order to allow 9b climbers to request membership.

3.
After the group is created, 9b admin will immediately "promote" You to administrator/moderator of Your group, so You can edit Your book and/or magazine.

4.
When "9b climbers" will request to join Your group, since You'll have their email address as part of their membership application, You can email them a link to the payment service You've set up to collect subscription fees.

5.
Once They send in Their payment, You can approve Their membership application and allow Them to join Your group.




If You like add Your VIDEOS in Your own "blogroup":

a) upload them in 9b

b) edit them

in order to decide who can view them

c) get embed code

d) paste it in Your blogroup
