Baltzola climbing AREA

Fly to Santander-Bilbao with Ryanair.

Go to Dima (about 125 km from Santander Ryanair airport), continue to a little village, the cave is signed, park in "aparkalekum" and follow signs.

The Cave of Baltzola is reached after a beautiful fifteen minute walk through the greenest of countryside.
Very big and dark cave.
Company is provided by cattle and horses.

The routes are either very steep walls or roof climbing on tufas, pockets and flakes.
Many of the climbs have been extended to provide increasingly difficult variations.
The handholds are nearly all smooth and friendly on the skin.

Good conditions in summer.


Best period: may through october.



To sleep:
- good and quite cheap campsites on the coast are 40 minutes from the cave.
- between Dima and "el barrio de Baltzola", You can park Your "furgo", there is water and repair from rain/sun.




Rest Days:
- surf
- visit Picos de Europa (two hours west), one of the most spectacular mountain ranges in Europe
- visit San Sebastian, an attractive town especially during the summer festival (a week around the middle of August).
