Margalef sport climbing AREA

Close to Montsant and Siurana, Margalef hosts about 800 conglomerate routes (5a - 9b).
All styles: big overhangs, big holds, small pockets, tufas, bouldery routes, power endurance, stamina...

Best period: early spring or late autumn.

Getting there:
Fly low cost (Ryanair) to Lleida or, better if you have no car, Reus.

A) Without car
The crags in Margalef are spread out.
To buy food there is just a very small shop/market 5 min walk away from the refuge (and a big supermarket about 25 km away).
So having a car is much better.
Maybe is there the option to rent a bike in Margalef ?
If You know, just reply.
On vacations you can find people once you are there.

Without car is better stay in Siurana and go to Margalef with someone.
Siurana - Margalef 40 km.

 

In any case, from Lleida to Margalef there is no bus (public transports in Catalunya).

There is bus (one in a day) from Lleida just to La Granadella; from La Granadella to Margalef you can take a taxi or do autostop.

 

 

From Reus there is a bus to Margalef.

To reach Reus:

A) from Barcelona Sants station You can choose to take:
- a train to Reus train station (about 50 minutes), or
- a bus to Reus bus station

B) from Zaragoza to Reus take a bus or a direct train (about 20 euros).

B) With car (suggested)
Margalef is about 2 hours driving from either Barcellona or Zaragoza.
Turn off the motorway AP 2 - E 90 (Barcellona-Lleida/Lerida) at exit 8 (L'Albi).
Drive southwest: past El Vilosell, before reaching Bellaguarda, turn off south to reach Margalef.

You can see the crags on the right before reaching the village. 

To sleep:

7 euros a night, 2 euros for showers.
Closed only 25-26 December.
The Refuge is located at the village entrance on the right.
At the refugio you can have breakfast and dinner (about 10€ for a good pasta plate or paella).
